There are always flowers for those who want to see them.
— Henri Matisse

Mark, line, shape, color are the playthings and fragments I orchestrate. With whimsy and informality, from the inside out, I create abstract private worlds of characters without words, whispering or laughing riotously. Letting go of expectations in the moment fosters joy in material, the tactile, and the pleasure of creating, leaving the possibility for poetry to come from nothingness.

This play is a meditative practice, where I can get lost in a piece. Listening to music and tuning out everything else, time flows by. Only at a point of recognition do I see the results of my play—a visual history of captured fleeting moments and thoughts.

I hope viewers feel invited to play and discover, make associations, and interact with the work in new ways. Find joy in looking for the unanticipated, like finding a shape in the clouds in the sky. Fleeting moments of times of the day and changes in weather like the reflection of green grass on an interior wall or small white petals gathered by chance in puddled water draw me in. Come look; slow down—see what I see.
